Joins Dunkin' Brands celebration of 15,000th store opening in US

Dunkin' Donuts UAE, the world's leading coffee and baked goods chain opened its 55th store in Al Bawadi Mall, Al Ain on June 15, 2009 at 3pm. This coincided with the international celebration of the 15,000th store opening of Dunkin' Brands in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.

"As part of the celebrations, Dunkin' Donuts will surprise one lucky customer who walks in at 1515 hours with a Dunkin' Donuts Goodie gift hamper and  will also treat everyone with a free cup of our delicious, freshly brewed Dunkin' Original Coffee from 1500 hours till 1515 hours" said Mr. David Rodgers, the General Manager of Dunkin' Donuts. "The opening of the Al Bawadi Mall in Al Ain follows the launch of our store in Enoc 1203 in Ras Al Khaimah-Sharjah highway and is part of our massive expansion with 16 new outlets in operation built at a cost of AED 8 million."

In Raleigh, Mr. Nigel Travils, Dunkin' Donuts CEO, Mr. Will Russell, Dunkin' Brands President, and Mr. Srinivas Kumar, Baskin-Robbins Brand President and other company leaders will be on site to mark the celebration.

The 15,000 store milestone and today's worldwide celebrations represent the deep connection and affinity both Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins share with people throughout the world.  "With more than 120 years of combined history, Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins have been part of our customer's daily lives, and they know they can count on us for quality foods, beverages and ice cream served in a fun and welcoming environment at affordable prices," said Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis. "Today, we honor the customers, franchisees and employees responsible for our success, and look towards a future of continued growth and commitment to serving both our new and existing communities."

A total of 15 Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins stores opening on June 15 in eight countries will celebrate this milestone with special offers beginning at 1500 hours local time.

In the Middle East, apart from the UAE, new stores will also open in Dunkin' Donuts in Rawdhah, Khurais Road in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Dunkin' Donuts at Seeb Corniche in the Sultanate of Oman will be giving special offers.

Dunkin Brands is the parent company of both Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins. In a nod to both Dunkin' Donuts' and Baskin-Robbins' roots and future, the very first U.S. Dunkin' Donuts store at 543 Southern Artery in Quincy, Mass will commemorate this occasion by selling coffee and donuts for 15 cents from 3 to 5 p.m.

To cater to the growing demand for its special blend of coffee and donuts, Dunkin' Donuts, the fast food chain, is continuing with its ongoing expansion drive in the UAE.

"Despite the difficult times, we haven't felt any significant change between our takeaway or dine-in figures in our outlets. The sales have been steady so far," said Mr. Rodgers.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Saud Sultan Al Qassimi, Chairman of the Government of Sharjah Finance Department and proprietor of Continental Foods Est., is the franchisee of Dunkin' Donuts in the UAE.

The company, which operates 55 stores in the UAE, opened 16 more outlets nationwide - four in Ajman, three in Ras Al Khaimah, five in Dubai, two in Abu Dhabi, one in Sharjah and one in Al Ain.
