DUBAI, UAE, 19th February 2009 - Bob Geldof will be playing live in Dubai at the Irish Village on Friday 13th March.
In what has become something of a tradition, Geldof's concert will kick off five days of live entertainment at the Irish Village as part of the celebrations leading up to St Patrick's Day on the 17th March.
"Geldof at the Irish Village is now a fixture in Dubai's social calendar and his lively mix of music and entertainment has pulled a sellout crowd each year," commented event organiser and promoter Transguard GroupTransguard Group
's Mark Povey. "Bob Geldof enjoys playing here as much as the audience enjoys hearing him and we are delighted that he is back here again in 2009."
As well as the Geldof concert, the week of entertainment at the Irish Village includes performances from Inis Oirr, Maple Jacks and The Vision, together with traditional Irish dancers and daytime entertainment for children.
Tickets for Bob Geldof cost Dhs 100, and are available from www.timeouttickets.com, or by calling 800 4669. They are also available from the Irish Village Craft Shop.
Bob Geldof is renowned by many as the world's most famous living Irishman. He was the leader of the 70s/80s rock band the Boomtown Rats but is now best known for his humanitarian work and his commitment to fighting world poverty. He was the driving force behind the Band Aid project in 1984, Live Aid in 1985 and Live 8 in 2005. He received an honorary knighthood in 1986 and has been nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize.
