Palestinian Expats Hail Visa Fee Exemption
- Text size
Abu Dhabi - Palestinian expatriates have hailed the decision taken by The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to exempt Palestinians from residency visa charges as well as give a grace period to those Palestinians whose visas have expired.
Doha Al Wazani, a manager at a leading public relations agency, said, "It is not strange that the UAE leaders do such charities to their brothers in the Arab world.
It is really great to find an Arab leader supporting the Palestinians in such hard times. And I wish that the New Year will carry the ray of hope for the Arabs in general and occupied Palestine in particular."
Mohammad Rebhi, an employee at a travel agency based in Abu Dhabi, said, "The UAE government has done a great job by supporting our people. And I think it will help the Palestinians who seek jobs here. I would like to say 'Million Thanks' to the UAE leadership and the people as well."
Rebhi said there is no Arab country which has taken a step to support the Palestinians other than condemning the attacks.
Raafat Ismael, a Palestinian engineer, living in the capital, said that it was great to hear the good news in such hard times. "Our families in Palestine are suffering from the Israeli attacks and the situation is very unstable. Under such a scenario, such kind of help and support is a big welcome," he said.
Adin Abu Manad, a Palestinian, living in Dubai, said, "After reading the newspapers I felt better because the situation is critical in Gaza."Adin's father was injured in the attacks and her grandmother's home was destroyed in the attacks.
"I call all the Arab leaders to move the same way and take steps like the UAE," the expat added.
