Matches on Sports Channel attract youth
Dubai, December 13, 2008: Creative Edge is developing a new striking commercial brand identity for Saudi football, aimed at raising viewership of the Saudi Sports Channel among Saudi and Arab youths.
The initiative, the first of its kind in the Arab media and sports scenes, was announced in a ceremony in Dubai, attended by representatives from regional advertising companies, advertisers, and Saudi TV led by HE Saleh Al Migeileth, assistant undersecretary for television affairs, and Sela Sports, the LED screens franchise holders headed by Ahmed Al Mohtaseb, Managing Director.
"Saudi Arabia is the biggest regional advertising market. All advertisers target televisions to convey their messages to the Saudi market in which sports and football in particular attract a huge viewership. Football is a major attraction for Saudi and GCC youth," says Assad Abou Al-Jadail, CEO, Creative Edge.
"Creative Edge has contributed in developing a distinctive brand identity for the Saudi Sports Channel and its main programmes. By introducing new technologies for the first time, viewership of the Saudi League rose, and we managed to serve advertisers better. We are now working extensively on giving programmes a fresh and attractive look," added Abou Al-Jadail.
"Today, we are capable of serving the advertisers better through the most important free-to-air sports channel in the Arab world," he stresses.
Earlier, broadcast consultants Creative Edge spearheaded the revamp of the Saudi TV Network with its four channels and gave some of their programmes new identities. Internal and external studios were modernized and new TV identities were created. Many marketing and advertising campaigns were further launched, doubling viewership and enhancing Creative Edge's stance.
To serve advertisers targeting youth, Creative Edge introduces a number of comprehensive solutions including LED electronic screens for spectators at playgrounds and for TV viewers while giving them the chance to watch the matches live through Saudi Sports Channel and through other sports channels and sports news programmes and coverage on a number of leading channels.
The LED screen initiative attracted main advertising agencies and positioned the channel well on major advertising plans. Multinationals were also encouraged to sign sponsorship contracts and long-term advertising contracts for multiple seasons.
