November 30, 2008: Franklin Templeton InvestmentsFranklin Templeton Investments
has announced the launch of FTIF Franklin Euroland Core Fund, a sub-fund of Franklin Templeton Investment Funds ("FTIF", a Luxembourg-registered SICAV).The Fund aims to achieve long-term capital appreciation by investing in equity securities of companies incorporated or having their principal activities in Euroland countries (i.e., countries having adopted the euro as their national currency, the member states of the European Monetary Union). The Fund's managers endeavor to obtain these objectives with less volatility and downside risk than the overall market, using a bottom-up research process to identify companies with a strong businesses model to support sustainable long-term growth, and are valued at a reasonable price.
The Fund is managed by the Pan European Equity Management Team, a newly-formed group under the Franklin Global Advisers umbrella. The team is headed by Frankfurt-based Uwe Zoellner, CFA, who has been a portfolio manager within Franklin Templeton InvestmentsFranklin Templeton Investments
focusing on the European region for 13 years. Mr. Zoellner will be assisted by Michael Clements, CFA, who is based in London, and supported by additional analysts located in Edinburgh as well as in the United States.
The managers will strive to provide investors with superior risk-adjusted returns over a long investing time frame by focusing on fundamentally sound, industry-leading companies with a sustainable competitive advantage and the capacity to support above-average growth.
"We intend to combine in-depth long-term analyses of target companies with a disciplined valuation approach," says portfolio manager Uwe Zoellner. This approach is specifically designed to identify quality companies with good growth prospects which are trading below their intrinsic value."
The portfolio managers intend to focus in particular on the strength of the company's management and its business strategy. "We really want to understand the companies and what's behind their financials. We will be conducting competitive analyses and looking hard at management plans to grow operations, improve profitability and generate returns," Zoellner said.
The Fund will invest at least 75% of its total assets in equity securities issued by companies which are based in the European Union to ensure eligibility for the French Plan d'Epargne en Actions (PEA). The Fund will seek to outperform the MSCI EMU Index.
Franklin Global Advisers offers a full range of equity investment strategies (growth, hybrid, core and sector-specific) across all market capitalizations, and serving retail, institutional and high net worth investors. Franklin Global Advisers' teams include a dedicated Research Team, the Pan European Equity Team, a Global Core/Hybrid Team, and a Global Growth Team. Team members are based in Europe and North America.
