Editor's Note
iDEN technology was originally created by Motorola, the world-renowned vendor of wireless solutions and safe mobile networks. Besides, these iDen technology based phones represent an innovative package of features used in wireless communications such as GPS and the ability to cope with harsh environments (water resistance, and heat), while it also covers the normal features of the GSM mobile phones.
iDEN technology exists in several countries by different network providers; like Sprint/ Nextel in America with more than 17 million users, in addition to Canada, South America, Morocco, Jordan, India, Japan, China, Philippines and Singapore. Sprint and Blackberry are now developing a new iDen-SDM based phone to serve the business men, which will be available in the market in 2009.
On the other hand, in Singapore, Grid " an IDEN Operator " and Singtel " a GSM operator" are combining the two network on a single SIM card and a single phone " motorola 930i" to be the first in the world to combine both technologies to service both the enterprise and the personal sector.
