Kuwait: MPW to start work soon on major construction projects

Kuwait City - The Ministry of Public Works (MPW)Ministry of Public Works (MPW)Loading... will soon start work on major projects, such as the construction of Jaber Bridge and improvement of Boubyan Port, State Minister for Municipality Affairs and Minister of Public Works Dr Fadhel Safar told Al-Qabas. Affirming MPWMPWLoading... has implemented several road development projects in various parts of the country, Safar said the ministryministryLoading... will start work on Jaber Bridge immediately after obtaining approval from the Audit Bureau. He added it will take the ministryministryLoading... two months to complete the necessary procedures for the execution of the project after obtaining approval. On another issue, Safar said the ministryministryLoading... will float a tender on the second phase of the road development project from Shuwaikh Port to the main road in Al-Subiya after six months. He added Al-Jahra and Abdul Nasser roads will be the longest in the eastern part of the country after completing the project, indicating the most advanced technology is being used on the project.

Meanwhile, sources from MPWMPWLoading... claimed the centralized system in government departments have slowed down the implementation of many vital projects, which led to huge losses on the part of the government, reports Alam Al-Yawm. Indicating a centralized system hinders proper and prompt decision-making processes, sources said the first phase of Boubyan Project, which costs KD 117 million, might be suspended due to bureaucracy in government institutions. Sources disclosed a private company has filed a case against one of the companies involved in the project in court, which delayed the execution of the project for four months.
