UAE: Salons Fined for Violating Prescribed Rates |

Ras Al Khaimah -- Five hairdressing salons in Ras Al Khaimah were on Tuesday fined Dh1,100 each by the Department of Economic Development (DED)Department of Economic Development (DED)
for charging more than the prescribed rates of services, and not complying the department's regulations. Shaikha Hussein Al Ali, chief of the Consumer Protection Unit in the DEDDED, said the violations were detected during the inspection campaign. Some of the salons were found over-charging the customers while some others were found not displaying the approved rate list for the benefit of the clients. The salon owners were also accused of not providing receipts to the customers, a violation of DEDDED's regulations, she added.
She noted that the DEDDED had recently circulated a list of rates for different hairstyles and henna among the more than 180 salons in the emirate.
