Amman, 30th August, 2008: Central Trade and Auto CoCentral Trade and Auto CoLoading... - Al-MarkaziaAl-MarkaziaLoading..., exclusive dealer of the Toyota brand in the Kingdom, showcased three Toyota 4X4 vehicles that include Land Cruiser, FJ Cruiser and Prado during a press conference held at the Dunes Club.

The press conference, which was headed by Mr. Nadim Haddad, Al-MarkaziaAl-MarkaziaLoading...'s Marketing Manager in addition to a number of engineers and employees from the company, covered the history of the Land Cruiser family that consists of the Land Cruiser, FJ Cruiser and Prado, their features and the series of developments they witnessed throughout the past sixty years.

Mr. Nadim Haddad commented on this event by saying: "We are holding this press conference today due to the significance the Land Cruiser family holds. This family marked a new successful chapter for Toyota and is seen as a symbol of strength, durability, reliability, and unrivaled off-road driving performance. It has kept its legendary position as the definitive SUV even after being tested in the harshest driving conditions throughout the world".

The press conference included a comprehensive presentation delivered by Mr. Nadim Haddad that covered all the new features that were introduced to the three vehicles, and included a detailed overview of their exterior, their performance, and their safety features.

The Land Cruiser was the highlight of the press conference as it includes many world's-first of its kind features, "The Land Cruiser has set a new benchmark standards for premium SUVs as it contains a number of the world's-first of its kind features such as the Crawl System, the Torsen Limited Slip Differential System and many more", Haddad said.

According to Haddad, the new generation of the Land Cruiser is available in three responsive engines, which have been developed to deliver the optimum combination of performance, driving pleasure, and low emissions. The first is a 4.0 litre V6 petrol engine, which by incorporating VVT-i technology delivers 245HP at 5200 rpm, an increase of 16% (33HP) over the previous 4.5 litre engine. The second is a 4.7 litre V8 petrol engine also now incorporates VVT-i technology, delivers 280HP at 5,400 rpm, an increase of 19% (43 HP) over the previous model. And the third is a Toyota's first-ever 4.5 litre V8 DOHC diesel engine, which has a third generation common-rail system and twin turbos, which deliver impressive power, fuel efficiency, and reduced emissions. The 5-speed manual transmission delivers 217 HP at 3600 rpm, and the new 6-speed Super ECT auto transmission delivers 232 HP at 3200 rpm.

Haddad also displayed a video about the world's first Crawl System, and explained that this innovative feature manages both pedals, maintaining a constant low crawl speed, enabling the driver to concentrate on the terrain ahead. The system minimizes wheel-lock and spin, enhancing vehicle stability and the capability to free the vehicle from difficult spots.

As for the FJ Cruiser, Haddad said that it represents one of the most advantageous design package for off-road driving, combining a short wheelbase, short front and rear overhangs, excellent approach and departure angles coupled with impressive wheel articulation, also the FJ is equipped with Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control, together with Anti-Lock Brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake-assist.

The FJ Cruiser has a powerful 4.0 litre, new generation, V6 engine. This engine incorporates advanced technology including ACIS (Acoustic Control Induction System), ETCS-i (Electronic Throttle Control System), and VVT-i (Intelligent variable Valve Timing) delivering 240HP at a 38.3 torque.

Furthermore, this engine is coupled with a 5-speed automatic transmission that provides smooth gear shifting, low engine noise, good fuel economy, and low emissions. The gate-type gear-shift provides on-demand shifting, adding to the fun of the driving experience. The Active Traction Control and rear differential lock and the impressive wheel articulation, tough suspension, a ground clearance of 245 mm, along wit the new 32" rims, 16" aluminum tires enable the FJ's superb off-road maneuverability on tough terrains.

Haddad went on and highlighted the Toyota Prado and said "The Prado's advanced engine which is a 3RZ-FE delivers excellent low-to-mid rpm torque which is indispensable in a true off-roader. Both the manual and the automatic transmission models make the most of the engine's power characteristics to give you a higher level of response and greater driving pleasure".

Haddad concluded by saying: "We hope that we have shed the light on the most up-to-date technologies that Toyota are using in their vehicles, and provided you with a clear idea of how exciting it is to drive a Toyota 4x4. Toyota's 4x4 list is a golden one especially because it embraces Land Cruiser, FJ Cruiser, and Prado. The upgrades it conducts regularly to its vehicles allows it to maintain its leading position in the global market, and open a wider scope in front of our clients in Al-MarkaziaAl-MarkaziaLoading... to choose what suits their tastes".
