RTA launches Taxi Ranks

Dubai (UAE): The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)Loading... launched a new initiative represented by the allocation of Taxi Ranks in various areas of Dubai. The initiative aims at upgrading the service provided to the public including the UAE nationals, residents, visitors and tourists.

This was told in a press conference held at the Public Transport Agency in Al Muhaisina yesterday morning. Attending the press conference were Essa Abdul Rahman Al Dossari CEO of the Public Transport Agency, Abdul Aziz Malik CEO of Dubai Taxi AgencyDubai Taxi AgencyLoading..., Hussein Al Banna Director of Traffic Department at the Traffic and Roads Agency, Yousef Al Madani, Director of Transport Systems Department at the Public Transport Agency and Peyman Younis Parham Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication Department of RTARTALoading..., in addition to a number of directors, managers departments and scores of newspaper editors and representatives for various media.

Essa Abdul Rahman Al Dossari CEO of Public Transport Agency confirmed that the RTARTALoading... had allocated (51) Taxi Ranks fully operational for this purpose to implement the service after a work group in charged the implementation of this project conducted filed studies and surveys to develop an effective working mechanism for selecting the Ranks located in various areas of Dubai, which are witnessing a growing demand for the taxis service, follow up the workflow to make these positions ready and develop them through a number of proposals and constructive ideas, report the progress of work to senior management and keep them updated, in addition to work on purpose of attaining the best solutions for the implementation of this service, which the RTARTALoading... is seeking to facilitate the process of using the taxis by the public through making them available in certain locations all over Dubai.

For his part, Abdul Aziz Malik CEO of Dubai Taxi explained that if the customer does not find any cars waiting in one of these Ranks, he/she can contact the Dispatch Center at the Public Transport Agency on the number (2080808) with the need to mention the Rank number, then the Dispatch Center will request nearest car to head for the taxi rank where the customer is.

He pointed out that in case the yellow color sign is on at the cab that means the vehicle ready to pick up passengers and if the cab is parked and there are red points on the sign that indicates the cab is preoccupied by other passengers or reserved by telephone. If there is no sign at all that refers the cab is dedicated to service the Dubai International Airport passengers.

He continued that the RTARTALoading... has always sought to keep up with advances in transport sector and lay down innovative solutions that would develop the mechanism of the RTARTALoading... work actions and add more smoothness, speed and excellence to service the largest possible number of customers including the UAE nationals, residents, visitors and tourists in a way that goes with the reputed position of Dubai as a leading trade and economic center in the region.

For his part, Hussein Al Banna Director of Traffic Department at the Traffic & Roads Agency said: "The Traffic & Roads Agency is exerting tireless efforts to create the infrastructure necessary to implement a number of initiatives that the RTARTALoading... has launched since its inception more than two years ago in order to upgrade the services provided to the public from and work towards achieving the desired integration in the mass public transportation in harmony with progress witnessed by the UAE in general and Dubai in particular in various fields."

He expected that this service would play a key role in providing a greater number of taxis for the passengers in a faster and more effective way, especially with the high demand for this service during the tourist season in the Emirate of Dubai which has become a tourist centre thanks to its remarkable sophisticated infrastructure that is boosting the urban expansion taking place in Dubai in various domains, including vital projects implemented by the RTARTALoading... in this important service sector.
