Marifaty and Muthabara to Raise Community Awareness on Data Security

Dubai: 09 August, 2008 - eHosting DataFort (EHDF), the region's leading IT outsourcing service provider and a member of TECOM InvestmentsTECOM InvestmentsLoading..., today announced two new Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives - Marifaty and Muthabara.

The Marifaty initiative will impart information on safe computing practices to schools, the government and public sectors. Issues such as hazards of cyber crime will be brought under focus as part of its overarching agenda.

The Muthabara programme aims to raise awareness on data security among university and college seniors majoring in IT, computer science and related fields. Muthabara, which means perseverance, also aims to empower select group of candidates through a Continual Professional Education (CPE) programme.

So far four sessions have been held as part of these initiatives, one in Dubai Chamber of Commerce, as well as Dubai Municipality, and the other two in the Dubai Ruler's Court.

Mohammed Fouz, CEO of EHDF, said: "These initiatives stem from our continued commitment to contributing to the society through CSR activities. We believe sharing knowledge on essential areas such as data security and cyber crime form part of our endeavour to creating a resilient IT savvy community.

"We are optimistic our initiatives will ensure the maximum utilization of ICT infrastructure while offering the community, especially law enforcement agencies, effective guidance on appropriate legal provisions to tackle those who breach security. In addition, Marifaty and Muthabara will help create a society that is fully equipped with the mechanism and know-how to effectively monitor IT systems."

Through the Marifaty programme, eHDF seeks to ensure the timely identification of cyber crimes linked to a spam or a virus. Governments sectors, high school students and many private sectors will benefit from its recommendations on information security and data protection.

Fouz added: "As a corporate social responsibility initiative by eHosting DataFort, Muthabara will serve as an effective instrument for empowering the youth with skills to make informed decisions while tackling future challenges."
