Vodafone Egypt announces new preferential roaming rates for Saudi Arabia and UAE

Press Release

07 August 2008
Roaming agreements offer more than 50% discount on roaming rates to VodafoneVodafoneLoading...'s customers

Richard Daly: "The agreements support our strategy to be the first choice for international travellers"

Thursday, 7th August: Vodafone EgyptVodafone EgyptLoading... announces today new roaming agreements with STCSTCLoading... in Saudi Arabia and duduLoading... in the UAE. The new agreements provide Vodafone EgyptVodafone EgyptLoading...'s customers with the lowest roaming prices and a world class roaming service while roaming in Saudi Arabia and UAE.

The attraction for VodafoneVodafoneLoading... in forming these agreements in the region was the strength and positive image of the three regional operators within the Arab market.

The agreements have enabled VodafoneVodafoneLoading... to create a new Arab Region Zone in their World Plus Plan which offers discounted rates of more than 50% when roaming on STCSTCLoading... or duduLoading..., versus roaming on other operators' networks. For example, both post-paid and pre-paid customers can now make calls back to Egypt for 7LE while roaming on duduLoading... in the UAE, a gigantic decrease from the previous rate of 18LE.

Furthermore, the three operators guarantee optimum standards in terms of network coverage and performance.

This new Arab Region Zone is a natural extension of the continuous enhancements that VodafoneVodafoneLoading... has been making to its Vodafone World Plus Plan to ensure that it offers customers simple and transparent roaming rates. VodafoneVodafoneLoading... has always offered preferential rates while roaming on the VodafoneVodafoneLoading... networks across Europe; now, with their new Arab Region Zone, VodafoneVodafoneLoading... customers will enjoy preferential roaming rates in the Arab Region as well.

Vodafone EgyptVodafone EgyptLoading... was keen to create the new Arab Region Zone during August - before the "Omra" and "Hajj" seasons - so VodafoneVodafoneLoading... roamers can benefit from the new competitive prices enabling customers to stay connected with their families and friends during their spiritual trips. The same goes for VodafoneVodafoneLoading... customers who travel to the UAE and Saudi Arabia throughout the year for different purposes such as tourism, shopping or business trips.

"These agreements support our strategy to be the first choice for international travellers" commented Richard Daly, Chief Executive Officer of Vodafone EgyptVodafone EgyptLoading....

Amr Abdallah, Chief Business Officer of Vodafone EgyptVodafone EgyptLoading... also highlighted that "VodafoneVodafoneLoading... is entering into more agreements for preferential roaming rates with other Arab operators over the coming months, resulting in more benefits for roaming customers in the region".

All because of Zain (MTC) by Adham Kholousy, Business Planning Manager, Zain Saudi Arabia - 09-Aug-08
No doubt that all these new agreements taking place in the region just because of Zain (formerly MTC) the giant leader in telecommunication market in 22 countries with more than 50 Mil subscribers, where zain introduced almost 3 months ago the "One Network" services to enable its subscribers in zain Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Sudan (soon to include Saudi Arabia also upon commercial launch this Q) to benefit from being charged with local rates when roaming in these countries, this service now includes other zain operators in east and central African countries to cover the largest geographical area worldwide, please see:

After Zain took the lead in such idea it was followed with a similar concept between Etisalat operators in UAE, KSA & Egypt, and then Vodafone responded to such alliances, so what's next for mobinil !!? [Report Abuse | Email to a Friend | Reply to this Comment]
