IKC to Produce 'People's Car' |

Managing Director Manouchehr Manteqi."The project is different from our Chery 21-sedan production initiative," Manteqi said in response to a question by ISNA about speculation that the car will be jointly manufactured with the Chinese car manufacturer Chery.
In 2007, IKCOIKCO
announced that Chery is set to invest over $370 million in the Iranian city of Babol. Iran KhodroIran Khodro plans to build Chery 21 sedans by assembling kits from China.Manteqi announced over the weekend that his company was going to manufacture three models in cooperation with the OICOIC
.The first will be what is termed by the Iran KhodroIran Khodro
chief as 'the people's car'. The second would be a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and the third a sport-utility vehicle, or SUV. One million units of the people's car are expected to be produced each year beginning 2009, while an estimated 500,000 MPVs would hit the market beginning in 2010.
