AMMAN - The Andalucia residential project, under construction by Taameer Jordan Holdings (TJH), will be the first of its kind in the Kingdom to be provided with natural liquid piped gas.
Under an agreement signed with TJH, Central Gas will construct a network to deliver gas to all villas in Al Andalucia project throughout a central distribution station.
The deal was signed by Aref Al Taher, executive vice president of engineering at TJH, and Sami Zreikat, general director of Central Gas Company.
"This service will spare housewives the burden of frequent changes of gas bottles and will reduce cost of natural gas consumption by 50 per cent, compared with traditional heating systems," Taher told The Jordan Times on Saturday.
He indicated that TJH will implement this environment-friendly service in its other residential projects such as Ahl Al Azim City, which covers a total area of 7.5 million square metres and is expected to house 16,000 apartments and villas, and the Red Sea Resort which includes 277 villas.
The company will provide the residential units with liquid gas through pipes as the service totally will be computerised in order to ensure its safety, he added. noting that end users will only pay a one-time JD500 installation fee to the service provider.
The Central Gas Company will install a gas metre in each villa, similar to those used for calculating water and electricity consumption, and payments will be on a monthly basis, Taher elaborated.
Located just a 15-minute drive from the 7th Circle, off the airport road towards Madaba, the project covers 800,000 square metres and includes shopping centres, restaurants, a preschool, mosques, a fitness centre and swimming pools besides other facilities.
According to Taher, around 75 per cent of Al Andalucia's villas have been sold to the public. He expected the project to be completed by May 2009.
The project, which consists of 570 villas of 10 different designs, is the first residential city that features the "gated community" concept in Jordan equipped with various systems and technologies that could be implemented, such as control and security systems, broadband Internet and communication lines, and TV cable and video-on-demand distributed to houses in a programme called "House Connection".
