, the science and technology facilitator of Economics Zones World, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Brazil-based Centro Incubador de Empresas Tecnologicas (CIETEC), one of the most important technology-based business incubator centres in the country.Under the agreement, signed by Mr. Hamad Al Hashemi, Managing Director, TechnoParkTechnoPark
and Dr. Claudio Rodrigues, President, CEITEC, the two parties will work together toward research and exchange of scientific and technological development in Renewable Energies, Medicine and Health, Information Technology, Environment & Sustainability and Electronics.Leading representatives from TechnoParkTechnoPark
, recently concluded an official visit to the Brazilian state of São Paulo with a call to promote more cooperation in the field of science and technology.The two parties, mandated to encourage technological development via entrepreneurship, will nurture cooperation agreements between companies within CIETEC and TechnoParkTechnoPark
. The agreement is expected to significantly increase science technology transfer programmes and activities, in the UAE.
After signing the MoU, Mr. Al Hashemi said: "CIETEC and TechnoParkTechnoPark
have a shared vision and mission. We are both engaged in the promotion of locally-developed technology that translates easily into real-world products and services. CIETEC is instrumental in fostering entrepreneurs and technology based businesses that help propel the national economy. The institution is well known not just in Brazil but also in the international scientific community. We hope to significantly learn from the CIETEC business model and facilitate long-term partnerships between Brazilian technology companies based in CIETEC and UAE companies within TechnoParkTechnoPark

. The objective is to exchange ideas, develop common projects, to present solutions, to conquer new markets, to reach scale and other objectives beyond our individual reaches. The Middle East and particularly UAE is developing at a rapid rate and we are very interested to tie-up with TechnoParkTechnoPark
at this stage to create some long-term sustainable initiatives." Brazil ranks second in incubation worldwide and shelters the highest number of incubators in Latin America.
Since 1996, the number of incubators in Brazil has shown a record growth. According to ANPROTEC - The Brazilian Association of Science and Technology Parks - the market of Brazilian incubators has grown nearly 30% yearly. In 2004, ANPROTEC had 283 incubators in operation out of which 55% were classified as technological, 19% traditional ones, 18% mixed and 8% others.
