Muscat Private Hospital has a new chief for Critical Care Unit

Hailing from one of the top institutions in India, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Dr Swatantra Mishra is the first DM in cardiac anaesthesia in the world and is the head of the critical care services at MPH. He has more than 6,000 open heart procedures to his credit with special expertise in neonates who weigh less than 1.5kg as well as cardiac transplantation.
He has worked with the top hospital groups in India in the capacity of Chief of Anesthesia and Critical Care and later joined a prestigious hospital chain in Saudi Arabia. There he worked as a consultant in cardiac anaesthesia and intensive care and was in charge of critical care. He was also involved with the setting up of critical care units for various accreditations like JCI, ISO etc.
His special interest and skill areas include anesthesia for cardiac failure patients, congenital heart disease, OLV, high risk cardiac surgical cases, non cardiac surgery in cardiac compromised patients beating heart CABG, minimally invasive cardiac surgery, VATS, robotic surgery, awake CABG, carotid endarterectomy, percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT), IABP, management of ECMO, DLT, high thoracic epidural analgesia, Echo (TEE & TTE) and bronchoscopy in ICU patients.
Dr. Mishra is also an active member of many national and international societies including the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine and a regular invitee to national and international scientific forums to deliver talks and CMEs.
