- A chance for four children from the Emirates to travel to Beijing and live the Olympic Experience - Dubai: Aiming to educate the children in the UAE about the Olympic Games and adhering to its commitment to promote active lifestyles, McDonald's UAE launched the Champion Kids program in association with the UAE National Olympic Committee (NOC). The launch was announced in a press conference held at the premises of the NOC and attended by representatives from the involved parties and the local press.
The program that will run from March 16th till May 1st 2008, will realize the dream of four children from the UAE aged between 6 and 14 to win a 4 days trip to Beijing with an adult guardian and live the Olympic experience.
Commenting on the launch of the program, Rafic Fakih, Managing Director of McDonald's UAE said: "Our social responsibility and commitment towards the wellbeing of our children in the UAE lead us to initiate unique programs that can effectively influence them and encourage them to adopt active lifestyles. The McDonald's Champion Kids program coincides with this vision, and possesses a strong potential to achieve the objectives through offering a lifetime opportunity that will engrave joyful memories in our children's minds and divert their thinking towards healthy practices."
Champion Kids leaflets with information about the Olympic Committees and the Arab achievements in the Olympic Games will be available in all McDonald's stores across the Emirates, and will be distributed through the NOC to clubs and schools. The leaflets will also include a detachable section with a quiz about the same information and a space to fill in the children's names and contact details. Children will have to answer the questions and deliver them to the McDonald's Store Manager, and the names with the correct answers will enter a draw to determine the four winners.
"The program is part of McDonald's official sponsorship of the Olympic Games and we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our partners, the UAE National Olympic Committee, for their contribution to make the McDonald's Champion Kids program a success," concluded Fakih.
