ABU DHABI -- A new Japanese luxury car Galue was introduced to the UAE market by the Al Otaiba GroupAl Otaiba Group
at its showroom in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
The car was launched by Sho Inokuchi, first secretary and head of the commercial section at the Japanese embassy, in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Mana Al Otaiba, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Al Otaiba GroupAl Otaiba Group
, and Kazunori Takazawa, Export Manager at the overseas operations department of Mitsuoka Motor Co. Ltd.
Takazawa told Khaleej Times that Galue is manufactured by Mitsuoka Motor Co. Ltd, a small company that ranks as 10th domestic car maker in Japan. The company was founded in 1968 by Susumu Mitsuoka and his wife to combine elegance, dynamism, luxury, harmony and technology in one car that is handmade and made to order not mass produced.
He said that Mitsuoka took part in the Tokyo Motor Show for the first time in 2001 where it received a large number of enquiries from the overseas markets, specially from the Middle East and Gulf region.
"This overwhelming response prompted us to expand overseas. Today, we have dealers in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Korea, China, and Saudi Arabia in addition to the UAE," Takazawa said.
"The car has a unique combination of classic exterior design and modern interior. It is outstanding and exclusive on the road," he said. Dr. Otaiba said that his group decided to be the sole agent for the car in the UAE because the car offers something different and original with a high standard of quality. "It is manufactured by a small car maker which is doing very well and in the right direction," he said.
He said that six and four cylinder models of the car would be introduced in the UAE soon for the mid-sector market.
He also plans to introduce the car in other GCC countries later.
