Renault plans to launch 10 new models across GCC

DUBAI -- French carmaker Renault will introduce over 10 new models across the GCC member-states in the next three years, aiming to become a key player in the region's automotive market.

"Each model will be fully tested locally to adapt to the local driving conditions and customer expectations," said Mohamed Bennani, managing director of Renault GCC, adding that warranty will be extended to three years.

Renault's alliance with Japan's Nissan has made the fourth largest automotive group in the world with six million cars sold last year, a company statement said released during the Press Day of The 9th Middle East International Motor Show, in Dubai.

It added that the Renault-Nissan alliance has a nine-per cent market share worldwide.

It stressed that Renault's new lineup for 2008 will cover each product segment from sports limited editions and sport utility vehicle to Coupe convertible sedans.

It said that all models will have air-conditioning system designed to suit extreme climate conditions in the GCC countries of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.

"This is why all vehicles introduced in the GCC are now guaranteed for three years/100,000 kilometres," Bennani said. "The warranty will reassure customers and demonstrate Renault's confidence in the reliability and durability of its new lineup."

He said that Renault GCC has "ambitious plans" for the region, and that its long-term strategy for growth is based on the company's core brand values of quality, safety, sports and fun. "These core values will be reflected through all our initiatives and the product we launch," he stressed.
