British company to generate wind power in Yemen

Yemen Observer

04 November 2007
Minister of Electricity and Energy Mustafa Bahran and chairman of British Manj Company Ken Johns, signed a memorandum of understanding on Tuesday regarding the establishment of a wind power plant in Yemen.

According to the memorandum, the company will undertake a study into the feasibility of generating wind power in Yemen with the intention of generating 1,000 Megawatts of electricity within the next five years.

Bahran pointed out that the study is an important step in enabling the ministry to implement wind power projects in Yemen and added that the World Bank has already carried out a similar study in al-Makha.

Ken Johns expressed the Manj Company's aspirations to invest in wind power in Yemen and said that the feasibility study would clarify the costs, prices and time needed to implement such projects.

Dear Sirs,
Being the largest manufacturers of Wind turbines in the world we are interested to get into contact with the British MARJ Company who wants to set uo wind turbines in Yemen, and as we know that the "wind tunnel" running from Turkey through Syria, Jordan and Saudia to Yemen, we fibd that there is a realistic background for wind farms in Yemen,

Please contact Ole Henriksen at oh@intercoolgroup.com being
