Press Release

World's favourite lightweight sports car Debuts in Dubai

Dubai, October 22 2007: Triggering new excitement in the UAE's sports car market, Galadari AutomobilesGaladari AutomobilesLoading... today launched world's favourite lightweight two-seater convertible roadster - Mazda MX-5, officially introducing it to the GCC market for the first time ever since the arrival of the motoring icon on the world auto scene in 1989.

MX-5 is a Guinness winner as the world's top selling lightweight, open, two-seater sports car and is famed for its uncomplicated, powerful and versatile performance based on Mazda's Zoom-Zoom concept of driving enjoyment. The third generation MX- 5 which made its debut at the 2005 Salon International de l'Auto in Geneva reinforces the legendary responsive performance and emotive styling of the MX-5 heraldry and is equipped with a unique power retractable hard top.

Introducing MX-5, Mr. G. A Kazmi, General Manager, Galadari AutomobilesGaladari AutomobilesLoading... said: "We are excited about the launch of MX 5 which is sure to pump up the adrenalin of sports car lovers in the UAE. MX- 5 is endorsed overwhelmingly by scores of sports car lovers' world over and is a winner of 150 industry awards around the globe. Adding MX- 5 to our Mazda portfolio is a landmark to us which will help us fuel the fast growing passion for the brand in the UAE."

Global demand for MX- 5 has been on the rise consistently and at the end of March 2006, the cumulative production stood at 761,921 units. The third generation MX-5 has been received enthusiastically by customers across the world and has won many prestigious awards including the Car of the Year Japan 2005-2006 award, Wheels magazine's 2005 Car of the Year award, BBC Top Gear magazine's Roadster of the Year 2005 award and a Car and Driver 2006 10 best Cars award, among others.

Unveiling MX- 5 to the GCC market for the first time, Mr. Takao Kijima, Programme Manager, MX- 5 and the creator of the motoring icon, said: "MX 5 reinforces Mazda's belief in creating driving experience centred on the Zoom-Zoom concept which draws its spirit from our dedication to Jinba Ittai - an intimate driver-car relationship that is akin to the harmony and synergy between a rider and horse moving as one."

"The third generation MX-5 RHT delivers an undiluted Jinba Ittai experience and the power retractable hard top provides the exhilaration of driving am open-top light weight sports car. I am confident that MX-5 will catalyse customer preference for Mazda and be a winner in this market," he said.

High Fun factor

MX-5 is well known for its unparalleled fun factor since the brand's debut and Mazda has retained this personality of the machine to its core with its Jinba-Ittai-focused dynamics giving the driver a feeling of fully in command while enjoying the exhilaration of open-top driving and being close to the nature. , MX-5 is fun to look at, fun to personalize and add to the fun of getting together with friends. It is outstandingly fun to drive, fun to own and fun to use.

Since Jinba Ittai has always been central to the MX-5's 'lots of fun' personality, a fishbone chart was created to precisely define all the attributes necessary for a further evolved Jinba Ittai experience in the third-generation MX-5. Mazda engineers then worked in each of six fishbone-chart categories--driving, braking, cornering, listening, touching, and styling--in pursuit of those attributes. And throughout this effort, Mazda's unique philosophy of Kansei engineering, which focuses on immeasurable Kansei values such as pleasure, beauty, and emotional attachment, was applied.

Light, compact

MX-5 is renowned for its novelty, trendiness and premium quality. The light, compact, stiff body that forms the basis of Jinba Ittai-focused dynamics benefits from an optimally light, compact roof and from reinforcements that stiffen the body opening without creating excessive weight. The low yaw-inertia moment needed in a lightweight sports car benefits from the weight distribution yielded by storage of the roof in the cabin (as opposed to storage of the roof in the boot), where it's close to the centre of gravity.

Instantly recognizable styling, user friendly

While meeting the need for roof stowability, MX-5 RHT inherits the unique roadster identity that was first seen in the first-generation MX-5. Its low, flowing shoulder line and neat, sleek roof lines mean it looks outstanding whether the roof is open or closed. The Power Retractable Hard Top--the world's first retractable hard top that has no impact on boot space--can be operated with ease and peace of mind by any driver or passenger; the MX-5 RHT eclipses other retractable-hard-top cars in terms of user-friendliness. The Retractable Hard Top retracts fully in just 12 seconds.

Emphasizing the fact that bringing in products that delight customers had been the philosophy of Galadari AutomobilesGaladari AutomobilesLoading... Mr. Kazmi said "The introduction of MX -5 to the line up, the Mazda brand image has been elevated several notches in the UAE".

Being the sole distributor for Mazda, Galadari AutomobilesGaladari AutomobilesLoading... are all geared up to make Mazda MX-5 the most popular sports car in the UAE. Mazda Mx-5 will be available in all Galadari Showrooms across the country.
