DUBAI -- 31 Indian companies, under the aegis of Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) will showcase their capabilities in IT hardware, software, services and IT industry infrastructure at the forthcoming Gitex Dubai 2007.
"ESC has been encouraging Indian IT companies particularly small and medium enterprises to participate at GITEX by offering special packages to them since Middle East markets hold tremendous potential for Indian companies. India's exports of electronics and software to Middle East has reached $837 million and the region continues to maintain its fifth position for India's exports of electronics and computer software/services," says Kamal Vachani, Regional Director of ESC.
India's success in Information Technology and an expanding pool of human resources have created many areas of co-operation between the two regions in areas ranging from banking, insurance and other financial services, manufacturing, retail and distribution.
Significantly, Indian software industry is increasingly moving away from direct marketing to end-users to provide solutions to a host of operational areas in manufacturing and services. These are areas are directly relevant to the Middle East and the neighbouring countries.
Kamal Vachani has been presenting the ESC in the UAE and Middle East since 1999. D.K. Sareen, Executive Director of ESC appreciated the efforts made by Vachani in increasing the IT exports from India to this region. A reception is being organised jointly by Consulate General of India and ESC to facilitate interaction Indian companies participating in GITEX and UAE companies, informed Mr Vachani.
