JCD to establish academy in cooperation with Balqa Applied University

AMMAN (Petra) -- The Jordan Customs DepartmentJordan Customs Department
(JCDJCD) will establish an academy to develop the department's institutional capabilities and capacities, JCDJCD Director General Meteb Zaben announced. The academy will be set up in cooperation with Balqa Applied University. Meanwhile, the anti-smuggling directorate at the JCDJCD foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of the high blood pressure medication, Diovan, into the Kingdom to be sold on the local market, Zaben said in a statement this week. He added that people involved in the crime were referred to the authorities. The company owning the trademark voiced its appreciation to the JCDJCD and its role in protecting Intellectual Property Rights.
