DUBAI -- "Consumer-generated media like weblogs and online video streaming is going to have a big say in our industry. Through this, a huge shift is expected to occur, and we need to realise that and make sure we are ready for it," said Abdullatif Al Sayegh, CEO Arab Media GroupArab Media GroupLoading....

Addressing a Press conference yesterday at Dubai Press Club to announce the progress regarding the Media and Market Show 2007 to be held in Dubai in November, Al Sayegh said the media in the Arab world needs to keep pace with the growing trends by incorporating user-generated media or risk being left behind.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of Dubai Press Club Mona Al Marri told Khaleej Times that one of the objectives of the organisation was to help evolve an environment that would facilitate participation of Arab media players in any anticipated developments in the industry.

"We need to focus on discovering talent, building up capacities and developing skilled personnel so that we are well-prepared for these challenges," she pointed out. Domus Group, organisers of the Media and Marketing Show 2007, said the event will host workshops and debates to enhance communication and to promote understanding of the media industry in the region.

New initiatives at the event will include a talent zone aimed at identifying talented individuals or groups and enhancing their skills in order to enable them to join the expanding media domain.

The 2007 show will run from November 11 to 13 at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
