United Arab Emirates - March 22, 2006: The World Summit on Innovation & Entrepreneurship (WSIE), the largest gathering of its kind in the Middle East, has so far confirmed more than 85 renowned business, political and social leaders as speakers from across the globe who will come together to improve the state of the global economy. The summit is going to be held in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, from 1 - 3 April 2006.
Mr. Sam Hamdan, Chairman of the Global Leadership Team (GLT), organisers of the WSIE said, "The confirmation of these expert speakers on such a range of social and economic topics has positioned the summit as a landmark event which will look at emerging nations through a variety of 'lenses'. This conference aims at helping emerging nations achieve global competitiveness through initiative and innovation by creating practical solutions that address the most pressing issues facing emerging markets as well as those of the Arab world."
Dr. Deepak Chopra said, "It is a pleasure to be associated with the World Summit on Innovation & Entrepreneurship, the first gathering of its kind. I believe a summit like this will encourage and innovate the public and private sectors to develop plans that will give the MENA region a global competitive edge. Businessmen, government officials and scholars will have the opportunity to liaise with leading global experts who have successfully made the transition into developed markets, as well as share experiences on how the role of religion and social issues play in developing the market."
Mr. Steven DuMont, Corporate Vice President of Cisco Systems IBSG, continued by saying, "Cisco Systems is proud to be a part of the WSIE. We believe that there is a great synergy between the aim of the summit and the innovative solutions Cisco Systems is renowned for. We believe that the World Summit of Innovation & Entrepreneurship is a great platform to allow us to share some of our experiences, so that others will benefit from the knowledge that we have gained."
PepsiCo's Chairman and CEO of International Businesses, Mr. Michael D. White, said, "The World Summit of Innovation not only examines the current economic status of the MENA region, but also of the entire Arab world. We, at PepsiCo, are of the view that the WSIE is a timely event as these emerging markets realize they must take greater steps towards the globalization of their economies. We are honoured to be associated with such an event that will play a pivotal role to the progress of emerging nations."
Mr. Sam Hamdan, Chairman of GLT, concluded by saying, "I expect these specialists to share their experiences and reiterate the need for innovation and entrepreneurship in the creation of a more dynamic and enterprising market."The Summit's full program and delegate/corporate packages for the full three days can be found at www.wsie.org or through email at registration@wsie.org.
