Kuwait's minister affirms authority's abidance by BOT regulations |

KUWAIT, Jan 8 (KUNA) -- Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Municipal Affairs Dr. Fadel Safar affirmed on Thursday the municipality support in principle for BOT-based projects in line with the relevant standing regulations.
Safar, in a press release, said he had previously supported a request by the investor in the landmark Al-Hamra tower project to add two floors for parking of vehicles, but had to revise this backing upon examining documents detailing regulations of the BOT-based ventures.
The law clearly stipulates that any investment activity cannot be altered within the framework of this particular system, "Thus I as the minister of the municipal affairs had to revise my stand and oppose to the decision."
Some members of the Municipal Council, at a session held on Monday, criticized the opposition to alter the investment nature of Al-Hamra project for allowing construction of two additional floors.
