KUWAIT, Nov 26 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti Ministry of Public Works said here Wednesday eight new hospitals would enter service at different areas in Kuwait between the years 2014 and 2016.

The new hospitals, which aim to cope with the natural increase in the country's population, show Kuwait's keenness on catering for people and their health, Hossam al-Tahous, assistant undersecretary of the ministry for construction projects, told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA).

The new facilities will be equipped with 500-600 beds each, he said.

The ministry is now seeking consulting companies to set the designs of the hospitals, which will be executed under the turnkey system, he added.

Meanwhile, the ministry said the current and future sanitary engineering infrastructure projects would cost a total of KD 300 million.

The projects include the development of sewage networks nationwide, Mahmoud Karam, chief engineer of the ministry sanitary engineering department, told KUNA.

Fresh longer lifespan pipes that can stand the weather of Kuwait are to be fixed, he added.

In anticipation of the rain season, several pumping stations have also been erected, he said.
