KUWAIT, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's non-oil exports to different world countries totaled KD 26.2 million in October, a trade official said here Tuesday.
A Kuwait dinar is worth almost three US dollars.
Of the sum, Kuwait earned KD 17.5 million from exports to Arab nations and KD 8.7 million from those to foreign countries, head of the Gulf and Arab Affairs Department of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Al-Ewaisi told KUNA.
Kuwaiti non-oil exports surged by 17 percent in October compared to 2007 when exports were estimated at around KD 21.7 million, involving KD 13.1 million in exports to Arab nations and KD 8.6 million in exports to foreign countries, he said.
Kuwaiti non-oil exports included food, insulators, chemicals, plastics, paper, wool, fiberglass, flour, and detergents, the official added.
Iraq was Kuwait's main importer, having imported Kuwaiti commodities worth KD 12.5 million, while Pakistan came as the least importer of Kuwaiti commodities at a value of KD 3,000, he said.
The statistics issued by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry do not include the GCC member countries due to the common Gulf customs agreement which treats the whole region as one stop.
