UAE plans draft law on public debt management

Abu Dhabi: The Cabinet on Sunday authorised the Ministry of FinanceMinistry of Finance
to set up an office to create a draft law for managing UAE public debt.
The move was taken at a Cabinet session chaired by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in Abu Dhabi on Monday, WAM reported. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, was also present.
The decision aims to lay down general guidelines that govern the UAE's sovereign debt.
During the meeting, Shaikh Mohammad instructed ministers and federal authorities to double their efforts to ensure implementation of each ministry and federal body's initiatives, especially those on the list of high priority.
The Cabinet reviewed an appraisal report on the implementation of the Federal Government strategy. It discussed proposed mechanisms for pushing ahead with the strategy's components to achieve the required national goals.
The Cabinet approved the statute of the Federal Human Resources Authority which was set up under federal law No.11 for 2008 and tasked with all jurisdictions and responsibilities related to the management of human resources at federal ministries and bodies.
It also approved a number of promotions and new appointments at federal bodies.
Mohammad receives Vietnamese prime minister
The Vietnamese premier, accompanied by a high-level delegation, was welcomed at the Abu Dhabi airport by shaikhs, ministers and senior civil and military officials. Shaikh Mohammad also received Chicago Mayor Richard Daley.
